Even though Worldshards is just in its early access phase, it offers players the chance to discover tradable NFTs within the game. Despite the possibility of a game reset in the future, players who acquire NFTs can rest assured that they will retain ownership of these items.

Currently, this web3-compatible fantasy MMORPG lacks a large-scale multiplayer feature. However, it's still early days, as the game is only in its initial early access stage. While multiplayer gameplay isn't an option at this time, Worldshards offers a fully functional single-player experience. To participate in the early access playtest, players must possess either a land NFT or an access key.

Worldshards adopts the Big Time framework. Participants explore separate zones, battling aggressive creatures, collecting materials, and occasionally tackling unique missions or challenges. These materials are subsequently utilized for construction and crafting. Players have the ability to set up crafting stations on their own property, which enables them to create stronger items.

Participants embark on quests, create objects, construct homes, set up crafting areas, and make superior items to enable them to undertake more challenging quests for improved rewards — and potentially even NFTs!

NFTs in Worldshards

Currently, obtaining NFTs occurs by chance. They might be acquired through collection or by conquering foes. These NFTs serve as designs for ornamental objects that you can add to your base without using any resources. Such decorative NFTs enhance the overall ambiance, facilitating the addition of less cozy structures such as workshops and processing units. In an upcoming upgrade, there will be options for players to exchange and market these designs.

You don't need to own an Island NFT to join the game. However, having one allows for a larger base build, offering more opportunities for enhancing your workshop. This, in turn, increases your chances of creating valuable and rare items. Moreover, when multiplayer mode becomes available, these Islands can serve as gathering places for guilds and friends. Furthermore, it's anticipated that there will be opportunities to rent out land via Open Loot.

Several ornamental NFTs have been previously given out in promotional events. These, along with property-based NFTs, are available for acquisition on the Open Loot marketplace.

What is Worldshards?

Worldshards is an expansive, fantasy-themed MMO game featuring sandbox elements, available in both traditional web-based and blockchain-enabled formats. Set in the mystical realm of Murlandia, composed of various hovering isles, players engage in combat with creatures, enhance their abilities, and occasionally tackle puzzles or seek diplomatic resolutions to fulfill quests. Worldshards is creating two distinct editions of their game: one with web3 capabilities and another that strictly adheres to web2 standards. The gameplay in both versions will be identical. However, the web2 variant will be accessible on Steam, while the web3 edition will enable players to purchase, sell, and exchange items using NFT technology.
